This full-day workshop will compare and contrast deploying servers in several major cloud platforms including AWS, Google, Microsoft and Oracle. It will feature hands-on demonstrations as well as a comparison of features, pricing and other tips. Topics to be covered include choosing the size of the VM, operating system and networking considerations, monitoring/backup/restore as well as growing the instance.

Demonstrations will include:
Deploying a website to Amazon
Deploying an application to Google App Engine
Deploying a VM to Azure

Participants will gain increased knowledge of the pros/cons of each platform as well as the ability to conduct the deployments themselves.

When it comes to cloud, one size does not fit all. This session will focus around cloud computing and container technology as an emerging, disruptive technology that can change the way an organization architects their environment to better deliver reliability, optimized performance and great cost value. This session aims to highlight how organizations are using this technology to evolve their IT infrastructure to position themselves to better support their business. This strategic initiative allows organizations to rapidly respond to changing market needs while positioning them to drive more revenue into their business.

Network virtualization is the next frontier of virtualization. What server and desktop virtualization did to transform the landscape of the data center, network virtualization promises to do that and more.

Far from being simply the virtualization of a switch, router or firewall, VMware NSX revolutionizes the deployment and security of virtual workloads. Removing the physical and administrative bottlenecks for traditional networking infrastructure, NSX gives the administrator all the tools they need to automate and secure an on-premises or cloud-based deployment.

Over the last 3 years, Gallup has created 5 new podcasts channels as a way of both marketing to and communicating with our customers via a podcast. We have seen incredible success using both audio downloads and live streaming audio, as well as video via YouTube to reach thousands of new and existing customers. Most of our podcasts are done weekly and for a regional audience in the US, India, Singapore and Australia and are done at a very low cost. As of October 2016, Gallup is seeing over 20,000 monthly downloads to the audio only channels and views that exceed 35,000 on YouTube. Its a marketing channel that should not be ignored.

Doing a podcast in the enterprise has a different set of issues and challenges (Both technical and non-technical) that need to be navigated carefully. This session will include lessons on:

Everyone is talking about Cloud Computing, but there seems to be wildly differing perspectives on what it means, how it works, and the costs and benefits of such a model. When it comes to databases and other business critical applications in the cloud, the message is even more confusing. In this session, we will discuss what House of Brick is seeing and hearing from large enterprises to small businesses. The session will present the “right questions” to ask about Tier 1 applications and the cloud – from private to public and other key SaaS/DBaaS considerations.

Predictive Analytics and Data Science are emerging as essential business competencies. The panel will discuss how enterprises are deriving value out of data by dedicating resources to predictive analytics and data science. Topics to be discussed include how to set up a predictive analytics team, how to identify pilot projects, critical success factors for predictive analytics projects, trends and fads in technology and software, and the importance of business culture and change management.
